2008 Board of Directors Elections

It is time to elect a new Board of Directors to serve a 3-year term.
Responsibilities include:

  • Selection of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer
  • In collaboration with the President, selection of the committee chairpersons: Newsletter, Membership, Track and Field, Long Distance Running, Masters and Women
  • Attending the monthly meetings of the SDTC (3rd Tuesday of each month) and possibly function as chairperson
  • Review/ approving the annual budget

Movin Shoes Monday Night Summer Run Series

It’s going to be a huge event this year; Movin Shoes is hoping for over 100 runners at each Monday evening run. There will be lots of sponsors who’ll be out supporting the event, giving runners the chance to test out new gear and giving away tons of schwag and prizes. The event starts on June 23rd at 6pm at the Movin Shoes in Encinitas, and goes for 10 weeks straight.

Road Runner Sports Sponsors SDTC Teams

The new SDTC team uniforms proudly displaying the 50 year anniversary logo were donated by Road Runner Sports. Thank you to RRS for their generous contribution to the SDTC. Our four teams, Women’s Open, Women’s Master, Men’s Open and Men’s Master teams compete in both local and national races. Thank you Mike Johnson and everyone at Road Runner Sports!!

2008 Chuck McMahon Memorial Masters Track and Field Meet

The 2008 edition of the Chuck McMahon Memorial Masters Track and Field Meet will be held Saturday June 28 7:00 A.M. at Cal State San Marcos. It has been designated the 2008 San Diego-Imperial Association Championship. Last year this race was host to a World Record, another record being lost only to an excessive breeze. There will also be many runners down from Los Angeles and Orange County, making the meet an unofficial Association Challenge. Free parking at the site is provided on an adjacent lot.

Ron Wells to Run in National Masters 10K Championship

SDTC team member Ron Wells, who won the 60-64 division at the Carlsbad 5000 will be running in the National Masters 10K championships, which will be held in Houston on April 26. Ron, who ran an incredible 17:46 at Carlsbad, must be considered one of the favorites to win the championship.
